Donate now to the Clean Bums for Little Ones campaign
The Nappy Collective’s Clean Bums for Little Ones annual campaign is officially underway!
From 26 April–24 May, more than 750 Collection Points around Australia will be accepting donations of new or leftover disposable nappies for vulnerable little ones. Locations include hundreds of early learning centres, maternal health centres, small businesses and major retailers like Baby Buntings.
The campaign couldn't come at a more important time with demand for support through The Nappy Collective essentially doubling over the past 12 months, driven by the cost of living crisis many households are facing.
The Nappy Collective CEO Sarah Witty says the current need for nappies is the highest in their 10-year history.
“We know there are many families who have been on the margins, but a sharp rent increase or higher costs at the supermarket have pushed them across the poverty line. For the first time ever, they are asking for help.”
It is estimated that 1 in 10 families in Australia currently can’t afford the nappies they need, and without ready access to these many children risk being left in unclean nappies for too long, causing distress, discomfort and infections.
Families in need of nappies are often escaping domestic violence, facing homelessness, experiencing financial hardship or seeking refuge. Not only does nappy stress impact children, but it also takes a significant toll on parents who are often forced to choose between essentials like nappies and food for themselves to help stretch their limited funds.
With an ambitious target of providing 1.5 million nappies to children and families in 2024, Clean Bums for Little Ones is a huge step towards this goal as we work to collect 550,000 nappies over the campaign period.
“Every donation, big or small, will help a local family in need so please donate whatever you can,” said Sarah.
